How to Help Safdar Razi

Salaam Alaikum,

As many of you are aware, Shaikh Safdar Razi has been arrested on "immigration charges" (despite the fact that he was legally in the United States) since last week. He is currently being held in a detention facility outside of Dallas, TX.

Some individuals have made various comments about the case, but we ask that people not speculate on such matters, as it is detrimental to our cause. Rest assured that this case is unique and not a simple matter as some people have indicated.

The Islamic Information Center is heading up a series of efforts to help and support Shaikh Safdar Razi, however your help is required.

Various legal advisors have indicated that if we could accumulate a series of "Character Support Letters" by this weekend, it would be extremely beneficial to the Shaikh's case. He is scheduled to be in court next on April 15, 2008.

As such, we ask the community at large, anyone who ever knew, met, or saw Shaikh Safdar Razi to write a letter of support for him and send it to us at supportsafdarrazi@gmail.com or Fax it to our main DC headquarters at 202-347-6406.

Here's a general list of things to write about:

1. How you know (or know of) the Shaikh
2. His moral character
3. His interfaith efforts
4. Anything positive you can come up with.

We know that for some of you, it might not be easy for various reasons to compile this letter on time, so we've created a template letter. If you would like, simply fill in the appropriate spaces in the template letter, write your name, and email it to supportsafdarrazi@gmail.com

If at all possible, when using the template letter, please try to add a sentence or two to the beginning and end of the letter, so that it looks "unique".

Some guidelines for writing your own letter or using the template:

1. Please make sure the letter is written properly, and that you get your message across
2. Please make sure you include your full name, and your city/state/country and a form of contact. We ask this so that the Judge does not think that we are fabricating letters.

We need these letters by Sunday night to present to the attorney on Monday. Please contribute as much as you can, and forward this message to as many like minded individuals as you can - time is of the essence.
